The National Lifelong Learning Institute (Národný ústav celoživotného vzdelávania, NUCZV) is a state budgetary organization of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, set up for the provision and fulfilment of tasks within the area of lifelong learning and further education. At the same time, the NUCZV as an expert organization is responsible for the development of the lifelong guidance system in Slovakia. It has participated in creating and updating the National Qualifications Framework and has been involved in the development of the National System of Qualifications, as well as the system for monitoring and forecasting education and training needs. The organization performs an essential transfer of innovations in the decision-making and legislative process and cooperates therefore with research institutions and centres, international organizations, central government bodies, district administrations, municipalities, associations, employers´ unions, professional organizations and interest groups as well as with European institutions.
NUCZV performs the role of the National Support Service (NSS) for the ePlatform for Adult Learning in Europe (EPALE) for Slovakia and serves at the same time as the National Coordinator for the implementation of the European Agenda for Adult Learning. Based on a decision of the Slovak minister of education, NUCZV serves as the Executive Secretariat of the National Forum for Lifelong Guidance as well as the Secretariat of the Committee for Research and Education in Human Rights and Development Education of the Government Council of the Slovak Republic for Human Rights, National Minorities and Gender Equality. At the same time, NUCZV has been a member of the European Lifelong Guidance Policy Network (ELGPN).
